A Charter for Living Together in the Territory

carta-etica--orizzontale
The Ethical Charter of Rete Donne delle Diaspore was created as a shared pact.

It is not a set of rules to be applied, nor a declaration of principles to be displayed. It is a tool through which we recognise how we want to build relationships, shape the Rete and inhabit the territory.

We start from a simple belief: every person carries experiences, skills, memories and perspectives that have value and deserve to be heard and recognised.

For this reason, the Charter places five words at its core — voice, care, plurality, autonomy and responsibility — which we do not see as abstract concepts, but as everyday practices.

These words guide the way we listen and speak, care for relationships, recognise differences, support paths towards autonomy and act within the territory with awareness and consistency.

The Charter is also a living document. It can grow, be discussed, questioned and transformed together with the Rete and the people who move through it.

Because building a network also means choosing, every day, how we want to be together.

VOICE

We value the stories, experiences and knowledge of women of the diasporas.

  • We listen without judgement.
  • We recognise the right to tell one’s story, to be heard and also to remain silent.
  • We promote active and conscious participation.

CARE

Relationships grounded in listening, respect and reciprocity.

  • We create safe, open and non-judgemental environments.
  • We respect each person’s time, story and boundaries.
  • We address conflicts with responsibility and openness, seeing them as opportunities for growth.
  • We care for people and for the contexts in which we live and work.

PLURALITY

Differences as a shared heritage.

  • We welcome diversity as a source of richness.
  • We encourage dialogue between cultures as an opportunity for mutual growth.
  • No voice is out of place.
  • The plurality of stories, experiences and perspectives is a resource for building more open and aware communities.

AUTONOMY

Every woman has the right to define herself, her own path and her own choices.

  • We support the freedom to choose and participate.
  • We recognise skills, experiences and knowledge.
  • Participation in the Rete is free, conscious and respectful of each person’s boundaries.

RESPONSIBILITY

We take responsibility for the words, relationships and choices we make.

  • We protect people’s dignity and privacy.
  • We reject stereotypes, simplifications and every form of instrumentalisation.
  • We choose collaborations that are consistent with our values.
  • We act to counter inequalities and discrimination.
