International Migrant Day: Experiences and Connections

On December 18, 2025, Rete Donne delle Diaspore took part in Migrant Day, promoted by the Consulate of Peru in Perugia. The event, held at the Palazzo della Provincia, brought together numerous associations, professionals with migrant backgrounds, and representatives from Caritas, alongside greetings from local authorities.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the event was the strong presence of second-generation young people — young women and men born and raised in Umbria. They were the perfect panelists, sharing stories, experiences, and perspectives that made the event truly vibrant and authentic.

Our reflections
We left the event feeling inspired and hopeful — with a strong sense that there is a future to build. This experience encouraged us to imagine new initiatives and collaborations to actively engage migrant communities, bringing culture, creativity, and concrete support.
It was also an important moment to understand how our future projects can connect with an already active and collaborative environment.
