The Rete delle Donne delle Diaspore at the 2nd International Festival for Gender Equality
From May 4 to 9, the city of Perugia hosted the 2nd International Festival for Gender Equality, an important opportunity for dialogue focused on inclusion, participation, and practices of equality.
As part of the Festival, the Rete delle Donne delle Diaspore took part in the programme through three events dedicated to dialogue, reflection, and collective sharing, placing at the centre the experiences and journeys of women with migrant backgrounds.

The first meeting, focused on the regional law for equality, offered an important opportunity to reflect on representation and participation. Particularly meaningful was the collective performance “OBSTACLE COURSE, practices of leadership and transformation”, held at Sala della Vaccara. The work was developed from personal experiences, lived realities, and everyday practices of leadership, thanks to the active involvement of the women of the network.
The journey concluded with the panel “New economies, new voices: women’s entrepreneurship among women with migrant backgrounds”, which highlighted stories of entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic empowerment through the testimonies of young entrepreneurs and local organisations active in the area.

The participation of the Rete delle Donne delle Diaspore contributed to enriching the Festival through a plural perspective, capable of connecting experiences, cultures, and practices of active citizenship. For many participants, being present within the city’s institutional and cultural spaces represented not only a moment of visibility, but also a concrete opportunity for dialogue, recognition, and collective building.
The Network would like to thank the Festival organisers, all the people involved, and the women who participated with enthusiasm, expertise, and generosity in the creation of the different events.
